Every year, the Committee for Education Funding, a coalition of around 300 national education groups, writes a "budget book" on every aspect of the education budget. It's a really great in-depth look at how education funds in Washington impact schools in real time. It is widely read by Members of Congress and their staff, people in the executive branch, and lots of other policy mavens across the country. It's a big deal.
And that's why it is so exciting that our very own Melissa Taylor has authored the section having to do with the McKinney Vento Homeless Act. The book is available online by clicking here (link opens in a new window). It's very well written and gives a great deal of insight into how the funds are used in her district and across our state.
I have said it several times before and it bears repeating here... our involvement in IAASE (or in CASE or whatever organization) is about so much more than just being a part of the organization. It's about learning about these issues and helping others to learn about them. Fantastic job to Melissa!
